Welcome from the Dean

Strong HallThe College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is the foundation of KU. As the largest academic unit on campus, the College influences the education of all students.

The College is home to more than 55 departments and programs and the School of the Arts. We enroll 18,000 students, provide general education for undergraduates and confer half of all bachelor's degrees earned at KU. Our faculty offer a diverse wealth of expertise spanning the disciplines of arts, humanities, international studies, natural sciences and mathematics, and social and behavioral sciences.

The true value of a College education, however, goes beyond statistics. I am awed by the breadth of imagination at work in our faculty's research and teaching. This inspires in our students an aptitude for creative thinking and problem-solving, invaluable traits in an ever-changing workforce.
