Overview of the College
The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences is the largest academic unit at the University of Kansas, home to more than 50 departments and programs and the School of the Arts. More than 17,000 students are enrolled in the College and nearly half of all undergraduate students at KU earn their bachelor's degrees in the College. Our more than 1400 faculty members and graduate teaching assistants offer a diverse wealth of expertise in subjects ranging from history, literature, chemistry, biology, dance, sculpture, art history, mathematics, anthropology, psychology, foreign language and international studies. Numerous national awards, recognitions and rankings earned by our faculty, alumni and students attest to the accomplishments possible with an education in KU's College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, offering study in over 55 departments and programs, truly is the heart and soul of the University. The breadth of education in the College provides the knowledge and skills necessary for growth in an increasingly global society. Our faculty consists of scholars who lead in the generation and dissemination of knowledge on which this society depends. The College's reach is broad, but our faculty and staff are united by the common goal of distinguishing the University of Kansas as a leader in teaching, scholarship, and public service within the state and beyond.
