Graduation Ceremonies

Students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences may participate in a variety of recognition ceremonies at graduation. In addition to the ceremonies listed here, all graduating students are welcome to participate in KU commencement, www.commencement.ku.edu.


Undergraduate Students


Spring Highest Distinction and Distinction Ceremony

May 13, 2012 | 8:30 a.m. | Lied Center
(Held in conjunction with the Master’s Hooding Ceremony)

Undergraduate students in the College who are candidates to graduate with highest distinction or distinction are invited to participate. Eligible students receive invitations in mid-April. Contact Karen Ledom (kjh@ku.edu) for more information.

There is no College-wide recognition ceremony for undergraduates in the spring. However, several departments hold spring recognition ceremonies for graduating seniors. Visit www.commencement.ku.edu for a list of events or contact your department for more information.

Spring School of the Arts Graduation Recognition Ceremony

Winter Undergraduate Recognition Ceremony

Spring Master’s Hooding Ceremony

(Held in conjunction with the Highest Distinction and Distinction Ceremony)

Students obtaining a master's degree in the College are invited to participate in the annual Master’s Hooding Ceremony. Students who wish to participate must register. Tickets are required. For more information, visit http://clas.ku.edu/students/hooding/index.shtml.

Spring Doctoral Hooding Ceremony

(Hosted by the Office of Graduate Studies)

Doctoral candidates who have satisfied all of their degree requirements by the deadline for graduation in May are eligible to participate in the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony.
